7/28/2011 - Immediate opening for Designer/Planner: We have an opening for a Landscape Architect staff person to assist in the development of complex urban design & landscape architectural projects & to be a key part of our firm. We are looking for highly-motivated, self-starters who have a combined interest in landscape architectural design, urban & development planning and who enjoy creating new places & making existing places better. Entrepreneurial professionals with a desire for a future partnership are welcome. This position involves many aspects of the design, planning & development process. Tasks may include: brainstorming design/planning solutions; landscape architecture construction documents; master planning & site planning; design guidelines creation & review; AutoCAD/graphic production; report preparation; public facilitation & presentation; community planning & revitalization strategies; project & client management. Do you like to learn & be challenged with new problems & tasks on a daily basis? Do you keep a constant eye out for interesting buildings, landscape designs & interactions in the environment around you? Do you understand the opportunities & limitations of zoning, design guidelines & other planning tools in place in many communities for directing new development? Do you enjoy reading about the profession, new projects & new ideas? Are you interested in design from the 1 to 1000 acre scale?
Skills & Qualifications should include: A strong work ethic, the ability to work well within a team setting, strong design & project management skills, as well as written & verbal skills & have a drive to grow professionally. Undergraduate degree in landscape architecture, from an accredited university program that provides a solid design & technical grounding. Minimum 1 year or more of work experience including meaningful internships. Exceptional graphic representation talents, with a focus/interest in 3D graphical representation methods is desirable. Strong critical thinking skills & attention to detail. Solid writing, graphic & computer skills. Proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketchup & Microsoft Office Suite - MSWord & Excel. Interest in ecology & plant material, LEED AP or ND is helpful. Interest in achieving landscape architecture registration. Experience with construction documents & site planning.
